Context of the project:
WAKEapp was born in the context of a collaborative project within a fictitious agency, where I worked alongside real professionals in an experience that simulated the dynamics and challenges of a creative agency. During this process, we used Notion as a central platform for the organisation, ensuring clear communication and detailed tracking of each stage of the project.
Project Description: WAKEapp was conceived as a creative solution to make the wake-up moment more engaging, dynamic and competitive. The central idea was to develop an app that, through challenges and rewards, would motivate users to wake up early and stay active from the start of the day. In addition to WAKEapp, the project included the redesign of a yoga website and a music app, both integrated with functionalities that promote wellness and healthy habits.
The development of WAKEapp was carried out through a collaborative methodology, where the team used Notion to manage tasks, share progress and keep documentation organised and accessible to all. Each team member contributed ideas and expertise in their area, working in sprints to optimise workflow and ensure regular deliverables.
1. Ideation and Definition: The first phase focused on conceptualising WAKEapp. We set out to answer the question ‘How can we make waking up early a motivating and fun activity?’ Through brainstorming sessions, key elements were defined, such as challenges, reward system and a social component to foster healthy competitiveness among users.
2. Development of Key Functionalities:
Daily Challenges: WAKEapp presents small morning challenges that the user must complete upon waking up to earn points and unlock rewards.
3. Social Competitiveness: One of the highlights is the ability to compete with friends or peers in leaderboards, which adds a social incentive to the experience.
Rewards System: Rewards, designed in collaboration with the team, offer users additional motivation to maintain consistency in their sleep and wake-up habits.
UX/UI design: During this phase, the team worked on designing an interface that would be engaging and motivating from the first interaction. We focused on creating a simple and straightforward flow to access challenges and rankings, with a visual aesthetic that reflected energy and positivity.
Outcome and Learning:
WAKEapp was a project that not only allowed us to explore creativity in design, but also to hone our teamwork skills in a simulated collaborative environment. The experience demonstrated the value of organisational tools like Notion in managing complex projects, and the impact of social motivation in designing user-oriented experiences. This project marked an evolution in my teamwork and in creating solutions that foster positive habits in an innovative way.
